Pumpkin Festival and a Visit with Papa and Nana

Anna in a bouncy house at the pumpkin festival
Last weekend Dalton had a long weekend off from school, so I took a couple days off and we headed out of town to Galax to visit Dad and Joanne.  We had such a wonderful time.  It was soo good seeing them and spending time with them.  On Friday, we went to Stuart to see Granny and Papa and unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of that.  However we had a great time!  I always love seeing them and the children did too.  Also-they loved seeing their chickens and playing with their (poor) cat.  Dalton drug that cat around the entire time we were there.  Ha!

On Saturday-we went to the Carroll County Pumpkin Festival.  None of us knew what to expect and had not been there before but it was wonderful!  Tons of fun stuff for the kids!
Hi everyone!  Cute farm family :)

Running in the hay maze.  Loved it!

Playing in the corn.  They loved this!

Look at Dalton's pants.  We had to strip him down after we left and before we went inside!

Riding around the hay maze with Papa's help

This is what I get when I ask them to both smile.  Good grief!

We went on a hay ride over to this area where you could pay $2 and shoot a pumpkin from a cannon.  This is them watching!  It was really cool.

Loading up!

Boom!  That pumpkin sure went far!

I was afraid the train ride might be a fair ride repeat but fortunately-it wasn't!  Anna LOVED this ride and in fact screamed when she had to get off!!

We had such a great time visiting Nana and Papa!!  Love you guys and can't wait to see you again!

Stars and Strikes

Breaking it down with little sis before friends arrived.
The weekend following his birthday, I did the complete opposite of what I said I was going to do this year which was not have a big party.  But-oh well-you only turn 6 once, right?  So Dalton requested to have a few friends go bowling with him at Stars and Strikes.  It was a great place to have a kids party and Aunt Diane even made an appearance!  He absolutely LOVED hanging out with his friends and I was really glad we did this.  It was still pretty small in the scheme of things but absolutely perfect.  Friends, bowling, pizza, cake and arcade games.  What more could a boy ask for, right??

Cheese!

Of course, they all had to have their own ball!  :)  Nevermind that they were all the same...

Strike!

Pizza time!

Sweet friends!  (and sister!)

Couldn't resist!!  Cutie pie :)

Ticket machine for the birthday boy!  So fun!!  Loved watching his friends cheer him on!

Arcade game with his buddy Will.  I wish you could have heard them laughing....SO sweet and cute!!
All in all I would say we kicked off year #7 right!  Happy birthday Dalton!

Happy 6th Birthday, Dalton!

On October 9, 2013 our little man turned 6 years old!  I really cannot believe it.  I told Zack the other day that I completely get the meaning behind that old saying, "the days are long, but the years are short."  In fact, that might as well be my motto lately.  It truly seems like just yesterday that I was at home on my maternity leave with this sweet little pumpkin baby.  But alas-it was 6 years ago.
As per our usual tradition, we celebrated MULTIPLE times!  :)  First with Zack's family, and then, on the actual day of, we had our typical family celebration.  As a matter of fact-we had so much fun at the Cumming fair, we went again!  But first, we gave Buddy his birthday presents from us at home.  From Mom and Dad-a new Lego table!
His Legos are becoming more and more complicated, so we got him this table and set up a new Lego area in his room where certain little hands cannot get to it as easily as they could in the play room.  He is loving it!
And, from sister, a new game for his Innotab!  The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle math game!  Also loves it!  Has already logged countless hours playing it...and...BONUS...is loving practicing addition.  A win/win in my book.
After we got home from the fair, we had our homemade "family" cake.  Per his request, it was a yellow cake with chocolate frosting-and sprinkles of course!

Enjoying the new Lego area in his room!

Dalton-we love you to the moon and back again.  You fill our lives with excitement and love every minute of each day!  Happy 6th birthday little man!

A visit from the Grahams + Cumming Fair

Three weeks ago, Zack's family came down to have an early birthday celebration with Dalton.  We had a wonderful weekend!  Little man (and the little girl too for that matter) was showered with lots of gifts that he LOVED and of course had a fantastic time playing with his big cousin!!  Here they are doing some Legos!
More Legos!  And-Georgia outfits courtesy of Grandma and Granddaddy!

Like our new picture face??

Opening a cute box :)

Sweetest face.  Still can't believe this boy is 6!

Of course, Priss can't be left out either.  In her new cowgirl outfit!  So cute!
Later that afternoon...we headed to the Cumming Fair!  We had such a great time!  I'm so glad that we did this with the Grahams here because Dalton really enjoyed having Colton to ride all the rides with.
Here's Anna on the one and only solo ride she did.  I felt SO terrible-she started screaming after this ride started and we had to have the attendant stop it so we could get her off.  And she had been so excited about the Nemo ride.  It was a little bumpy though, and it really terrified her.  It was SO awful!!  :(

Cute Georgia boy with his lemonade

Love this picture of Zack's dad and Colton on the Himalaya!

The boys and I on the swings.  This was Dalton's favorite ride!  I loved it too!

Whee!!

Two little worms!

Great pic of Buddy after the slides
As always...our favorite fair feature...the petting zoo!!!
Be back before too long with more pics!  Anna was up a lot last night which = one tired mommy.  The bed is calling my name!  Nighty night!

Randoms

We are alive and well!  Between soccer, Dalton's birthday, and a trip to Virginia, I just haven't been able to update this blog recently.  Oh well-it may take a few days but I will get you all updated!  So here are just a few random pics from life in our neck of the woods lately...
CHEESE!  This little girl is quite the ham!

Loves her baby dolls!

Sweet little Mommy....
At the end of September on one of the first cool evenings we had and before everything got picked over, I took the kids to Target one evening to pick out Halloween costumes.  Dalton decided on Obi-Wan Kenobi (in keeping with his recent Star Wars obsession), and Anna is going to be a cowgirl!  We really rang in fall that evening by eating candy corn after dinner, wearing our new costumes, and watching "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!"

A few more from after school...
Puzzle time!

We love dress up around here.  This is an interesting look.  Half princess, half ninja??

Before church

Close up!
We have been visiting churches recently and have found one we really like.  It's called Creekside United Methodist and is a more contemporary service.  I wasn't sure we would like that, having always gone to a traditional church, but the pastor is WONDERFUL and they have a really great youth program.  So-we will see-but so far, so good!
