Babyland General Hospital...and an adoption!

Packed and ready to go!
So we are trying something new this summer called Camp Grandma :)  Dalton left yesterday for a week in NC with his grandparents and NC family.  I  have to admit, I had a heavy heart yesterday morning when I woke up and knew that I wouldn't see him until Friday.  But-I think it's really important for a child to spend time with their grandparents and cousins, aunts, uncles, etc and I knew that this would be a really good week for him and a great way to make some fun summer memories.

Meanwhile, Anna is staying at home with us.  It occurred to Zack and I when we planned this that we have NEVER had 1 on 1 time with her since her birth!  Crazy, isn't it??  So while we miss little man more than words, we are really soaking up this time with Anna.  And I have to say-she is loving it!!!  She's definitely not used to having all this attention!  Yesterday on the way home from Anderson, SC where we met Larry and Ann I don't think she was quiet for even 20 seconds.  She just chattered away the whole car ride back and loved not being interrupted by you know who!!!  :)

Today I was off and so we headed up to Cleveland, GA to Babyland General Hospital-home of the Cabbage Patch Kids!  I have to tell you that this was one of my favorite things that I have ever done with my children!  Maybe because I used to love them so much when I was a little girl??  Anyway, it was little girl heaven and Anna absolutely LOVED it!!!
Have you ever seen a cuter Cabbage Patch Kid???

In the Cabbage Chair

In front of one of the museum showcases.  Can you  believe they had dolls displayed that are worth $15,000???

One of the nurseries

She hugged a lot of baby dolls trying to find the right one for her!!!

We even got to witness a birth!!!  It was so special!!  The nurses pictured are "LPN's--or Licensed Patch Nurses"...we had to wait a long time and kept hearing hospital announcements saying "the cabbage leaves are 8 cm dilated!  Nurse Amy and Nurse Jennifer to the patch, stat!"  Hilarious!!!

Finally!!  We found "the one"

Styling some hair at the Patch Styling Salon...this was right up her alley.

Proudly carrying her baby to the adoption suite to take her oath.

Listening patiently to her responsibilities as an adoptive mother.
Raising her right and and repeating the oath

She did it!  "Baby Sally" is officially part of the fam!!

Proud  mother

Babyland General.  That little speck is Anna :)

Yay for a super fun day!!!
I got a few more pics on my phone that I will have to add later but they are so cute.  Needless to say, Baby Sally went EVERYWHERE with us today...Chick Fil A, Wal-Mart, and even on a long stroller ride in the neighborhood!  Of course, as I type, they are both tucked in and sound asleep.

I know this will be a day that I will treasure forever!  So thankful for this sweet little girl.

Lost tooth and big girl bed!

All he wants for Christmas is his 2 front teeth!  Last week, Buddy lost his other top tooth.  He looks so cute with both teeth missing!  He was super excited, too.  Funny anecdote-the tooth fairy has been leaving $1.50 for all teeth but this week he must have been out of change!  So he left $5 for that top tooth!!!  Here's the funny part...when Dalton woke up, he was slightly disappointed that he only got "a money" instead of "money and 2 quarters!"  :)  Man I sure wish they stayed like that!  I bet it would make the teen years a lot easier!!

In other news....little Bean got her big girl bed!!!!  She LOVES it!  And, as we had hoped-she is sleeping much better as well with less times waking up at night.  Hallelujah!  A win/win situation!

She looks so little here!!

I love my big girl bed!!!

One of brother, just for good measure!! ;)

Amelia Island 2014

Building sandcastles together
June 4-8, we took a family trip to Amelia Island, Florida.  This was our one "just us" family vacation this summer, and it happened to actually be for a work conference for me.  The conference was wonderful and was perfect, timing wise-4 hours each morning and over by lunch!  Which meant that we had from lunch on and every night to be together.  And my did we take advantage of it!  We stayed in a very nice villa this year (better decision than a hotel which is what we did 2 years ago-NOT a good choice!), so we ate lunch there every day when I got back from my meetings and then strolled right out our back door and to the boardwalk and out on the beach for3-4 hours.  SO fun!  And we had perfect weather, too...

Love my people!

Goodnight Daddy!!

"Look Mommy!  Daddy bought us boogie boards and shark tooth necklaces!!"

Surfin' USA

Totally captures his beach experience!  I had to practically drag this boy out of the water every day!

Dalton and his beach friend Liam out on their boards...

Searching for a turtle down in the big hole in the dunes!

Sweet babes.

My boys!

Every single night, we went to downtown Fernandina Beach and ate seafood, strolled, shopped, listened to music, and finished off our evening with homemade ice cream at Fernandina's Fantastic Fudge.  SUCH a wonderful trip!!  So thankful that we were able to make these wonderful memories!!

2nd Annual Smathers/Graham Boating Adventure!

Anna and Char Char
2 weekends ago our BFF's the Smathers came down for a super fun filled weekend!  We kicked off the weekend on Friday night by getting burgers from Backyard and hanging out at home with the Thaxtons too!  It was wild and crazy with 6 kids but so much fun.  I can't wait to do it again!
Rub a dub dub, 4 little girls in a tub!!

Let's go!  Ready for a boat ride adventure

Love these sweeties.  This will be on proud display at their wedding, in what...about 30 years Brooke?!?

Playing on the shores of Lake Lanier

Loves her Daddy!!

Love this one!

Sibling love
This really is one of my favorite weekends of the year.  We rent the boat for 8 hours and pack a picnic and literally stay out there all day.  The pontoon was super nice this year and we spent a lot of time riding around and also a good amount of time pulling up to the beaches and swimming/exploring.  And we couldn't have asked for better weather, either...
I could never get enough of these hugs!!

Right after he jumped in with Brooke and I!  Definitely my adventurous one....

Swimming at the beach...

This may be my favorite picture of him ever.  Happiness is on the lake in a boat!
Thanks for coming Smathers!  We missed you Thaxtons!!  Can't wait to do it all again next year...or earlier!?!
